Manuel A. Agudo

Chairman and Founding Partner

Mr. Manuel A. Agudo’s industrial career spans over 35 years of fiberglass and composites industry experience at the executive level of PPG Industries Inc., Saint-Gobain Corp., and Owens Corning Corporation. In 2011, Mr. Agudo founded Global Advisors group LLC (USA) and GAG Bv. (Europe), serving as Executive Chairman and advising CPIC International in their fiber glass globalization growth. In 2014 Mr. Agudo founded Global Directors Group LLC designing M&A investment strategies for investor companies into the US, Europe and Latin America working in partnership with Global Private Equity firms.  

While at PPG Industries Inc., Mr. Agudo was a member of the handpicked PPG M&A team charged with establishing a global platform for PPG’s Fiber Glass Group, pursuing several inorganic opportunities, ultimately completing full acquisitions in The Netherlands, the UK, and Venezuela, and negotiating equity and technology Joint Ventures in Japan, Taiwan and China. 

Mr. Agudo was appointed PPG’s General Manager of the European Fiber Glass Group, and Global General Manager of PPG’s Thermoplastic Business among other executive positions. Mr. Agudo continued his management career with Saint-Gobain Vetrotex from its Paris headquarters until 2007, when Owens Corning purchased the non-U.S. business of Saint-Vetrotex fiberglass, and Mr. Agudo was invited to join Owens Corning’s executive team as Global Business Leader for one of OCV’s business unit.  

Mr. Agudo holds a BA Degree from Indiana University of Pa., and a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in International Business from Northwestern University and the University of Pittsburgh. He speaks four languages fluently (including Dutch), and resides in the USA and in the Netherlands, holding US and EU citizenships.

Alan Hood

Alan Hood

President and COO

Mr. Hood’s served 22 years with PPG Industries Inc. as part of a 35 year business career. He started off with PPG in Research & Development in the Automotive OEM Coatings business and led the technical introduction of topcoats into the new Nissan Tyne & Wear plant, collaborating with Nippon Paint. He is a qualified Accountant and held the positions of  European Finance Director for the Industrial Coatings and the Fiber Glass Groups. He was based in Paris for the Industrial Coatings position and was the final lead in six acquisitions in four years. In the Fiber Glass business, he was responsible for the both the Hoogezand and Wigan finance functions as well as strategic planning, acquisitions, capital approvals, working capital management and strategic planning for the European business.   

Mr Hood has worked with the Global Directors Group for over two years, focusing on Strategy and Finance. During this period, he has developed financial cost saving and capital saving strategies for a major client to be implemented globally. In particular, he has followed a ‘Top Down’ planning process with the client that facilitates effective organisational communication and strategic planning. His focus with the client is always to make financial processes as clear and simple as possible.  

Mr Hood is a Partner in Global Directors Group. Mr Hood holds a B.Sc in Chemistry from Birmingham University, a Diploma in Mfg. Management from Warwick University and is a Chartered Management Accountant.

Beatriz P. Robles

Beatriz P. Robles

Principal

Beatriz P. Robles is an Attorney and International Investment Banker, with 18 years experience in Finance. 

During her career, she has held various executive positions both in the Treasury and International Corporate Finance Areas. From those positions, she has been responsible for the institutional and business relationships with Corporations and Banks and has been involved in the overall financing and corporate assets divestitures activities at the operational and board levels; working with a wide range of products for Corporations such as banking guaranties, loans, bonds, credit lines, derivatives, trade & export finance, cash management and transactional banking products among others.  

Ms. Pérez Robles has a J.D. in Law and a master’s degree in finance and corporate banking. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Wayne Rutherford

Wayne Rutherford

Executive VP Manufacturing and Operations

Mr. Rutherford spent much of his professional career before joining Global Directors Group as an executive with a Fortune 100 company, PPG Industries, where he spent many years in operations and then moved into general management. This included serving as Managing Director for the business in England and Division General Manager of Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.  He has had more than 30 years’ experience in successful business turnarounds, as well as in-depth expertise in manufacturing and operations leadership, Total Quality Management, best practices, team building, strategic and vision planning and profit growth. Wayne has worked with various groups to establish their goals, focus the resources and execute an action plan to achieve results. He has hands-on experience in sales and marketing, cost reduction, employee management and productivity, quality and process control, systems and processes to improve efficiencies, construction project management and facility management. In broader areas, he also has experience in joint ventures, franchising, licensing, contract negotiations and labor union negotiations.  Mr. Rutherford is a trained professional speaker who routinely speaks on a variety of business subjects.

Roger Goodwill

Roger Goodwill

Global Director of Technology

Mr. Goodwill has more than 40 years’ experience in the composites industry and a wide and varied knowledge of industry in general gained in dealing with a vast array of customers, from single units to global international concerns, governmental bodies, various standards institutions and approval authorities. His career in the glass fiber industry started in the early 1970 with the UK company T & N – TBA Glass Fiber Division, where he was responsible for all technical service activities.  In 1988, he was actively involved in PPG’s acquisition of this company, ensuring product stability and customer confidence were maintained. At PPG, he was initially European Technical Service Manager for all PPG glass fiber products, and after successful transition into the PPG family, he developed the role of Product Manager for a wide variety of products, eventually responsible for all direct draw roving products. As PPG expanded globally, Mr. Goodwill undertook the responsibility for successful product transfer and customer acceptance of PPG Joint Venture-produced products.  At the same time, he also managed the PPG applications center in the U.K. His primary focus has been product management, including not just product problem-solving but also packaging, international product rationalization, market development and, most importantly, ensuring customer satisfaction with all product offerings. 

Initially qualified as both a graduate mechanical and electrical engineer, Mr. Goodwill has worked in technical service and product management roles on a global basis. He has served as Chairman of several ISO and British Standards committees responsible for developing composites standards and has also acted a Lead Assessor for ISO 9000 Quality System audits. While his business activities have been mainly in Europe and North America, he also has extensive experience in the Middle East, China and Australia.

Gautam  Mahalik

Gautam Mahalik

Director of Business Development

Gautam Mahalik is a seasoned and experienced professional in the field of sales, marketing & general management both in India and Asia Pacific working in various capacities in large Indian and transnational corporation such Reliance Industries, GE, Saint-Gobain, Owens Corning and Tyco Sanmar et al in a career spanning close to 25 years. He has taken up international assignment based out Shanghai managing the customer in the Asian market & global portfolios. In his last two jobs Gautam has lead two companies at the helm as the CEO.

Gautam has great insights into major Asian markets, specifically China and Japan and has been instrumental in growing these markets through customer acquisitions, launch of new products, channel development, market and application development activities. Gautam has recently managed a difficult restructuring exercise comprising of closure of multiple sites and lay off thereof. The success of this exercise has led to a significant improvement and turnaround of the company.

His core competencies include P&L management, change management, M&A, turnaround & restructuring, strategy development, business development, new product management to name a few. Gautam has sound business acumen, a multi tasker, analytical in approach, exposure to global environment, well networked and culturally sensitive.

Gautam is a chemical engineer by education and has a MBA in Marketing from highly regarded Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow in India.

Tom  Smith

Tom Smith

Manufacturing Process Technology

Tom has over 35 years of experience in glass manufacturing in both float and fiber glass industries. Beginning with Ford Motor Company, responsibilities included technical support in the Nashville Float Glass Plant and research engineering in the Dearborn Research Center. Then he spent 25 years with PPG Fiber Glass. Beginning as a production engineer in the Shelby Plant, he served in roles in operations management and furnace rebuild coordination. In 1988 he moved to Venezuela to lead and manage PPG's joint venture plant start up with a South American textile company. Returning to the US at the Lexington Plant, he served in roles of increasing responsibility in operational management until moving to England in 1994 as operations manager in Wigan.   In 1999 he was assigned to Fiber Glass Engineering, serving in the role of Manager- Global  Glass Melting Operations. In this role he was responsible for insuring all PPG plants were operating within defined best practices, troubleshooting manufacturing problems around the world, and identifying /implementing the latest technology applicable to the PPG process. He led the Glass Melting Technology team made up of representatives from domestic and foreign plants, engineering, and research to insure fiber glass achieved and maintained a competitive advantage. He has a BS and MS in Ceramic Engineering and now resides in Spartanburg, SC.

Sue Raies

Sue Raies

Executive Assistant

Ms. Raies provides executive administrative assistance and communications services, including international project facilitation. She is a native Chinese speaker with full professional English proficiency gained over 18 years in the U.S. She has a clear understanding of the cultural, social and political environments in which Chinese and English are spoken. She serves as a client liaison and prepares documents and presentations in various media. Born in China, she resides in the U.S.
